Emergency Shelter
Bread
of Life Mission's Emergency Shelter opened in May, 2003.
This
new facility can house up to thirty men, women and women with
children.
The
Shelter features large clean bathrooms with showers, an expansive
dining/meeting
area
and a beautiful kitchen. There are separate dorm rooms for men,
bedrooms for
women
and private rooms for women with children.
Chapel
Bread
of Life Mission is a Christian ministry that believes that the key
factor in
having
a complete life and overcoming addictive behaviors is a personal
relationship
with
God through his son Jesus Christ. There is a chapel service every
evening,
led by
pastors, local inspirational speakers and individuals called to
share a testimony
or
message. The chapel service, while optional, is encouraged.
Programs
All
guests, upon entering are enrolled in our "Life Change Program".
Each
guest must maintain a point system. Mandatory points are assigned
according to unemployment, part or full time employment.
There
are many ways a guest can earn their points, ie book reports,
typing
tutor, computer class, Bible studies, Scripture memory, budgeting
class,
counseling, job applications, attending our addiction recovery
groups, Christian teaching videos,
wood
shop projects, Bible trivia and memory, community service, case
management, chapel, church,
craft
projects and a variety of other ways.
Bread
of Life Mission also has a "Discipleship/Intern Program".
This
is limited to only three men at a time who are ready to take their
recovery to another level.
These
men dig in for a year commitment, with many studies, homework,
counseling and
internship training in rescue mission ministry.
Woodshop
Woodshop Director Bill Scheffler holds a class Mon - Fri from 8:00am
- 12:00 noon.
Skills
taught include project development, reading plans, finish and rough
